Hello Families,
Our class would like to go on a field trip May 3rd but we are short eligible volunteers. If we do not have enough volunteers our class will be unable to go on a field trip. If you could volunteer that day then please contact the Hawkwood office to proceed with your security check. Your security check is good for 5 years and it would mean so much to our class if you were able to volunteer. Today Kindergarten went on a field trip to learn more about healthy eating. As a class we have been learning about healthy eating all month. When asked what they know about healthy eating here are a few things the student's said:
“Making you strong and strawberries are healthy because strawberries make you strong so you can be good at soccer.” “You get strong and healthy by eating healthy foods.” “You have to eat healthy eating every day the doctor says”. “If I do not eat meat I wont get energy.” “You have to stay healthy so you should eat the rest of the food so you can play and stuff.” “Bananas make us strong because we eat them because it gives us energy” “Strawberries… we can’t them every day you have to eat mixed veggies because that won’t make you strong.” “Not eating to fast and not eating to much sugar because you will get sick.” This week Kindergarten continues to learn about nutrition.
Today students were asked to sort food into a healthy food pile or an unhealthily pile, combining math and health knowledge. Students realized that some foods are more difficult to sort than others. For example: milk is a healthy food, but chocolate milk has a lot of sugar added and therefore a sometimes food. Hawkwood school has started our gymnastics unit for Physical Education. Gymnastics will continue until the very end of January. On days that Kindergarten is scheduled for gym please ensure the follow:
